The Rugby season began well last Saturday when we played BBC. The 1st XV showed the value of their long preparation and the benefit of their tour when they won against BBC 27-0.

The 1st XV showed the value of their pre-season preparation and the benefit of their Sydney tour by defeating BBC 27-0. The scores were locked at Nil all for the first twenty minutes until Michael Meehan and Philip Langley completely confused the BBC defence fro a surprise twenty-five dropout after an unsuccessful BBC attempt at penalty goal.

After this demoralizing try, the BBC defence wilted and Terrace ran in another four tries. Michael Meehan was in brilliant finishing form to collect a hat trick of tries. Mark Henley led a determined pack who supplied an abundance of ball to the fleet-footed backs where Michael Meehan, John McCrossin and Mark Moore had outstanding games.

Result: GT 27 (Michael Meehan (3), John McCrossin, Tony Parker tries, Michael Maranta 2 conversions, 1 penalty) d BBC 0
